NICO Holdings Limited was the first to be listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange in 1996. It is a company with an interesting history, dating back when it started operating in 1971 as National Insurance Company. Since then NICO has grown its business and now has subsidiaries in Malawi and Zambia and investments in Uganda, Mozambique and Tanzania. It is involved in General Insurance, Life Insurance, Banking, Asset Management and has supporting business in Information Technology Service. NICO has several other investments in hospitality industry, real estate such as shopping malls and office complexes, Mwaiwathu Hospital. Its corporate strategy is remains to expand representation and operations in COMESA region.
