NICO Group, through Eris Properties, has handed over gazebos to the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM), through the Blantyre District Netball Committee. This is the second donation towards the netball fraternity during this season. Eris Properties donated MK2 million to the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) in April, to assist with their ongoing preparations for the 2023 Netball World Cup.
The gazebos, costing MK1.6 million are to be used for shade for netball officials who play various roles during the matches such as keeping scores, first aid boxes, and umpiring.
Speaking on behalf of the Group, during the handover of the gazebos, ERIS Properties Chief Executive Officer, Ellen Chapinduka-Nyasulu, said the group has the sport at heart.
“Netball has proven to be a successful sport, but sometimes is not fully supported. We believe that these gazebos will go a long way in assisting the netball officials to execute their duties comfortably”, Chapinduka-Nyasulu said.
She added that this is not the first time the group is supporting the game of Netball and will not be the last.
“In April, ERIS Properties and ICON Properties sponsored the Netball Association of Malawi with funding to support their preparations for the 2023 Netball World. This is to show our dedication towards the development of the sport”, she added.
Blantyre District Netball Committee Chairperson, Vitumbiko Gubuduza, expressed gratitude for the donation.
“As Blantyre District Netball Committee, we are very grateful to NICO for their assistance when we called on them. We have needed gazebos during our league games and when we asked NICO, they immediately said yes. We are excited about this donation, especially considering that they also supported the Malawi Queens during their camping in the month. We are humbled by their responsiveness and support to our Committee and the Netball sport in general”, Gubuduza said.
NICO Group remains committed to contributing to the growth of various sports activities in the country.
